Abstract
The debates about projective techniques have been mostly about their theoretical and psychometrical limitations, and about the value of continued use of these techniques. On the other hand, the methodological and theoretical limitations of projective techniques may be present also in the other psychological tests. To reveal the difference among psychological tests and projective techniques it is important to evaluate their differential role in the diagnostic process: psychological tests allow for the measurement and classification of behaviors, while projective techniques reveal signs that require interpretation based on the clinical history of the person.
