Abstract
The article intends to examine from a textual point of view the manuscript tradition of Luigi Alamanni’s Elegie, preceding the editio princeps printed in Lyons in 1532. The Elegie were initially conceived for a different political context than the edition dedicated to Francesco I (and indeed dedicated to Renato Trivulzio). On the basis of a description of the 9 known manuscripts and a discussion of the errors in each, an attempt at a provisional classification of the codices is proposed.
