Abstract

The paper proposes a methodological reflection regarding the possibility of using data analysis strategies typical of Grounded Theory in Social Work research. A case study of the application of gt in the analysis of some interviews collected within a national research study dedicated to exploring the role of the social worker in the field of child protection, will be presented. The paper will highlight how the systematic proceeding in the analysis of data and the constant discussion of one’s interpretations make gt particularly suitable for exploring typical Social work issues and themes, giving voice to and enhancing practitioners’ narratives and reinforcing the traditional connection between theory and practice.
