Abstract
Starting from Asor Rosa’s considerations on the importance of the author’s private life rather than biographical data in literary writing, beyond the canonical forms of memoir and autobiography, the essay analyzes the ways in which Natalia Ginzburg transforms the narrative of personal experiences into a recurring storytelling mechanism. The core of her short texts and memoir essays is the adolescent experience, depicted in the twentieth-century tradition as a traumatic and restless season, forcing the protagonist into a path of growth, painful and full of suffering
