Abstract
The article underlines the approach of De Mauro towards translation. He clarifies the problem within the scope of the pragmatic and introduces seven linguistic "adequacies", essential for a "good" translation. From the theoretical point of view about the translation debate, namely if the semantic omnipotence of language always allows to translate every code into its forms, De Mauro answers that there is no need to confirm or deny this possibility, but rather to introduce in the translation process the human author, the one who will verify the result after translating the text.
