Abstract
This paper addresses two features of "The Baron in the Trees". Firstly, the lack of protracted introspective passages does not prevent Calvino from offering a representation of passions that are multifarious and richer than in other works. Secondly, the bond between adventures and dense conceptual plot suggests a reflection upon the nature of feelings and their influence on private and public life.
