Abstract
The essay suggests an interpretation of Le dolci rime d’amor ch’io solia, focusing on its relationship with two literary sources largely known in the Middle Ages: the Ars poetica and the Consolatio Philosophiae. The first part provides a synthesis of the bibliography about the reception of Horace and Boethius in Dante’s works; the second part offers an analysis of some verses of the song and the prose of the fourth book in order to highlight the influence of the two auctores on the text. This interpretation can be confirmed by some medieval books containing both the works.
