Abstract
The contribution reconstructs Luigi Pirandello’s relationship, sometimes even contradictory, with the city of Rome and with the Roman literary society since his arrival in the capital in November 1887. In contrast with d’Annunzio, Pirandello ridicules the high life and the aristocratic salons and substitutes the Rome of the Popes with the capital born from the post-unitarian urban reconstruction. In addition, the contribution offers a sampling of Pirandello’s novels and short stories whose characters move through the streets of Rome following the footsteps of their author.
