Abstract

Literature not only represents the world but also considers its “symbolic mediationµ (Daniel Henri Pageaux) transforming the geographic data into words in order to create a literary cartography. Paolo Volponi’s novel La strada per Roma indicates a movement towards the megalopolis of Rome, shaped by the analysis of the narratological and geo-symbolic details present in this novel.
