Abstract

In the field of contemporary Sardinian literature, multilingualism emerged during the last decades of the twentieth century, thanks to narrative texts, that have both Italian and Sardinian as basic language. The purpose of this research is to outline the whole cultural phenomenon and to identify authors and works that have marked the start of it. In order to recognize the internal linguistic boundaries of this narrative production, the following study compares the perception and the use of the codes by Benvenuto Lobina and Sergio Atzeni, two prominent authors, representing the two linguistic varieties through which the Sardinian prose has been articulated. Moreover, they wrote their works in the initial phase of the modern multilingual fiction.
