Abstract

The aims of the present study were to implement a measurement instrument to assess school motivation and to test the hypothesis that the main motivational components, underling school achievement and difficulties, can be lead to four dimensions. According to a theoretical model of motivation in study, a 40-item questionnaire has been set up (Dazzi, Pedrabissi e Ratti, 1997). To evaluate the psychometric properties of the test and the validity of the model of motivation it has been compared to another theoretically concordant one: the Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire of Ryan and Connell (1989). The questionnaires have been administered to a sample of 324 students (160 males and 164 female), attending the middle school (11-14 yearsold). The metric properties of the tests have been verified. Results showed that the test has good psychometric properties and confirme the hypotized motivational structure. Il presente lavoro nasce dall'esigenza di disporre di uno strumento in grado di rilevare la motivazione allo studio e di verificare l'ipotesi che le componenti motivazionali fondamentali sottostanti al disagio e al successo scolastici possano essere ricondotte principalmente a quattro dimensioni. In base a tale modello teorico è stato costruito un questionario composto da 40 item (Dazzi, Pedrabissi e Ratti, 1997). Al fine di verificarne le proprietà psicometriche e la validità del modello di motivazione, il test è stato confrontato con un altro teoricamente concordante: l'"Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire" di Ryan e Connell (1989). I due questionari sono stati somministrati ad un campione di 324 soggetti (160 maschi e 164 femmine), di età compresa tra gli 11 e i 14 anni e frequentanti la scuola media inferiore. Le proprietà metriche degli strumenti sono state verificate. Le analisi effettuate evidenziano una buona correlazione tra i due, confermando una soddisfacente validità del test da noi elaborato.
