Abstract
On the basis of psychoanalytic literature, the author reflect on conscious and unconscious needs that induce humane people to live in pair. The article provides clinical material discussing human wish of making children, fertility/sterility and parental motivations to artificial fertilization. Furter critical questions concern the identification of parenthood's standards: is it possible to anticipate, "ab initio", the family's scenario? Is it possible to identificate a psychopathological risk for the child before his birth? Is it possible to anticipate child's contribution to the couple's dynamic? At the end, is it possible to identificate a standard of healthy family fit for bringing up children?
